"Chinese companies in Madagascar are among the most dynamic in supporting the fight against coronavirus," commented Midi-Madagasikara, a top newspaper in Madagascar, in a report of a donation by a Chinese company.
To support the fight against Covid-19 in Madagascar, the China Railway 18th Bureau Group (CR18G) Madagascar Department donated essential materials to the rural commune of Andranahoatra Itaosy where it is located, including 40 bags of rice and 120 liters of oil.
Hajanirina Rasamison, mayor of Andranahoatra Itaosy, expressed gratitude to the Chinese company in his speech, adding that the donation "is intended for the poorest fringe of the commune."
"Coronavirus is a common enemy, and together we can defeat this epidemic," said Guo Yajun, deputy head of the CR18G Madagascar Department. "This is a normal gesture on our part as we consider Madagascar to be our second homeland."
Since its entering into the Malagasy market in 2004, CR18G has always fulfilled its corporate social responsibility with actions, which have also been widely covered by Chinese and Malagasy media.
"Chinese enterprises are not left behind in assuming corporate social responsibility," commented a mainstream Malagasy media in July 2019, referring to the CSR activities by CR18G.
